What is a Tile?

What is the screen size of the Tile?
The Tile has a 4.7-inch screen.
How is the Tile mounted or installed?
The metal plate allows you to use a mounting magnet, and you can use the double sided tape. Of course, you can choose other attachment mechanisms like a hanger by sticking those to the back of the device
Can the display be mounted on any type of wall?
The display comes with a double sided tape that is suitable for most wall types that are flat and clean. To use magnetic mounting you need to attach magnet to the wall first.
How do I switch between wall-mounted and table-top setups?
If you want to place the Tiles in different locations it is recommended you use magnet. The double sided tape does not allow for removing and placing the tile back.
How do I start setting up my Tile?
Press buttons 1 and 3 together for the start and for a reset at any later point.
How do I connect my Tile to WiFi?
Through the reset or via the menu you can select 'Connect to WiFi' and follow the instructions which will ask you to use your phone, to temporarily connect with the Tile's WIFI and then on your phone when prompted provide the WIFI network name and password of the local WIFI network.
How do I pair the Tile with my account?
Open the menu by long pressing the first button on the device and select 'Pair to New User'. A QR code will then appear. Scan the QR code on the Tile with your smartphone to pair. During the start-up or after a reset the QR code for pairing the device will automatically appear after having established the WIFI connection.
Is the app compatible with both iOS and Android devices?
AWE does not have a dedicated app at the moment, but the AWE website can be accessed through a web browser on any platform. For easy access you can turn the website into an app icon on your phone.
Usage
How do I access the Tile menu?
A long press (3 seconds) on Button 1 (on the left) opens the menu.
How can I scroll through options on the Tile?
A short press on Button 1 will scroll through options.
How do I exit the menu on the Tile?
Press Button 3 to exit the menu.
What's the function of Button 2 on the Tile?
Button 2 is used to select options in the menu.
How can I change the WiFi network on the Tile?
Go to the menu, select 'Connect to WiFi' and follow instructions.
Can I change the user paired with the Tile?
Yes, through the menu, select 'Pair to New User' and follow prompts.
How do I set up what will be displayed on the Tiles?
You can use any web browser on either your computer or phone to enter your AWE account (AWE-Elements.com/tiles) and set up or adjust the display of your AWE Tiles.
Can the display be integrated with smart home systems like Amazon Alexa or Google Home?
Not yet! But it is on the list of expansions. If you would like this to have extra priority do let us know.
How do I interact with the Tile?
You can use the three buttons on the Tile to navigate menus and select options for setting it up. The idea is however, that you don’t interact with your Tile but use it as a source of information or inspiration, while living your life. Just like a clock on the wall.
How do I check the Tile's battery level?
Battery indicators are displayed on the main screen.
How often do I need to charge the device, and how long does it take?
Charge as indicated, usually every few months. Full charge may take a few hours.
What type of USB cable is required for charging, and is it included?
A standard USB-C cable is required.
What steps can I take if the display isn't charging properly?
Check the charger and cable, and ensure the charging port is clean.
Can the display operate while charging?
Yes, the display can operate while connected to a power source.
What is the range of brightness levels, and how can it be adjusted?
An e-ink screen has no background lighting and is thus pleasant for the eyes and mind. If the contrast is insufficient, consider changing the display to a larger type (for example by only showing one measure), consider changing or removing any background image, or increase the lighting in the room.
Product Features and Capabilities
What types of information can the Tile display?
As of today, the Tile can display weather, air quality, pollen counts, agendas, financial markets, notes, and function as a picture frame. We are however looking to expand this continuously.
How often does the Tile update the displayed information?
The Tile updates every 20 minutes to conserve battery life.
Can the Tile display multiple measures at once?
Yes, it can display multiple measures or graphs. Most of these more advanced options require a subscription.
Are all display options on the Tile free?
Selected weather data, agenda/calendar, notes, and the picture frame option are free. Other data may require a subscription.
What does a lock symbol indicate on the website?
A lock symbol indicates that the feature is available only with a subscription.
How much does it cost to unlock all display options on the Tile?
Unlocking all display options costs US$3 per month, excluding any possible local taxes.
How do I change the background image on my Tile?
Change it via the My Tiles dashboard, and add new images in the images tab.
Can the Tile display real-time financial market data?
Yes, it can display current values of stocks, currencies, including crypto. However, it does have a 20 minute renewal rate so the value might be up to 20 minute old.
The Tile refused to connect to my google or gmail calendar?
How can I provide feedback or suggestions for new display options?

Connectivity and Compatibility
What do I do if my Tile won’t connect to WiFi?
Check your network, and if issues persist, reset WiFi on the Tile.
How do I reset my Tile?
Press buttons 1 and 3 together for a reset to start the setup anew. Starting anew means both the WIFI and the user pairing need to be repeated.
Who do I contact for server issues?
Contact customer support for server-related inquiries.
How do I know if my Tile is connected to the server?
A connected indicator will appear on the screen.
The Tile is used by another user that I do not know
If another owner is already paying the subscription of the Tile you can indeed not take over ownership, unless the current user terminates their subscriptions or delete the tile from their account.
What should I do if the display isn’t connecting to Wi-Fi?
Restart your display and router, then try reconnecting to Wi-Fi.
The display is on, but no content is showing. What could be the problem?
First check your own account awe-elements.com/tiles. If the tile is showed here and displays what you wish it to display, this means the issue is with your wifi, or your battery is empty. If no tile is showing on My Tiles page, this means the Tile is not yet added to your account. Please go the the menu (1st button for 3 seconds) and scroll the the second option for pairing of the screen to your account.
Why is the display’s screen flickering, and how can I fix it?
The screen can be flickering upon refresh, but should generally be stable. If the screen is flickering continuously please contact customer support.
Safety and Care
How often does the Tile's battery need to be recharged?
Typically once every 3 months.
What type of battery does the Tile use?
A 5000 MAH, 3.7 V Li-ion Polymer battery.
Is it safe to carry the Tile in checked baggage?
No, carry the Tile in carry-on baggage only.
Can I dispose of the Tile in regular trash?
No, dispose or recycle according to local regulations.
What should I do if the Tile's battery is swollen or leaking?
Stop using it and consult a professional service.
What should I avoid when using the Tile?
Avoid water, heat sources, disassembling, and rough handling.
Can I replace the Tile’s battery myself?
No, battery replacement should be done by the manufacturer.
What are the recommended care and maintenance tips for the display?
Keep the display clean, avoid moisture and heat, and handle with care.
Is the display waterproof or water-resistant?
The display is not waterproof; avoid any liquid contact.

What additional features does the Tile subscription offer?
The subscription offers additional data measures, multiple location tracking, and more display options.
How do I subscribe to the Tile's additional features?
Subscription can be done through the Tile's website or app.
Is the subscription for the Tile auto-renewing?
Yes, subscriptions typically auto-renew until cancelled.
Can I cancel the Tile subscription at any time?
Yes, you can cancel the subscription anytime from the My Account > Subscriptions settings. Your subscription will end at the end of the month for which you already paid.
What happens to my data if I cancel the subscription?
Access to subscription features will end, and any associated data may be lost or revert to free versions.
Are there any free trials for the Tile's subscription services?
Free trials may be offered; check current promotions for details.
Can I share my Tile subscription with family or friends?
You can give your family access to the tile by sharing the long-in data of your account. It is not possible for multiple accounts to control a single tile.
Will my subscription price ever increase?
Subscription prices are subject to change, but any changes will be communicated in advance.
